A Pretty Long Post

I have to put this post up before Saturday. I know it's the middle of the week but I do have some pressing things to do: like another day of dilly-dallying over my CV, finding the perfect shoes for my dear friend's wedding next month (not to mention finding another pair for another wedding in June - no, I can't wear the same pair because it would clash with the dresses I'll be wearing - and well, girls need shoes), fittings for the aforementioned two weddings, plan what to bring for another out-of-town trip by next week, call the friend of a friend in need of a writer/reporter/someone-who-can-fit-words-together-for-a-report and see if the position is still open and hopefully decide my future. Kidding.

Oh yes, I do have my reading to do. But for now here are my picks for this week's Weekly Geeks:

1. Tripping Towards Lucidity. I admit I've been lurking in her blog for quite sometime but since I don't have a blogroll (unpardonable, I know) I get to read her posts only when I remember. Hahaha! Kidding. I have read her fondness for Fables way back (before I deleted all the private data from my browser) and it's only now that I get to read her other posts which are all entertaining, educational and funny.

2. Kay's Bookshelf. She reads everything and posts about them with apparent ease! Am I envious? Totally. Hahaha! And she has a list of authors after my own heart, at least some of them. And she's probably the only other blogger I know who has read Robert Rankin's The Witches of Chiswick which was a fun read for me years ago!

3. Adventures in Reading. Because I was initially reeled in by the Bookworms Carnival photo. I mean, that's one cute worm! And then I read the post on Vurt by Jeff Noon and I just want to read that book right now despite a few irritating aspects mentioned in the same post. She also had interesting posts on a Roald Dahl's story, one by Washington Irving and of course Edgar Allan Poe.

4. Bold. Blue. Adventure. Before I changed the template for this blog I wanted to use this blue, tropical one she has on. Hahaha. Then I scrolled down and read that she enjoyed Fables a lot (which is a favorite of mine). I think I'll enjoy reading her older posts as well; the same way I smiled while perusing her take on The Disputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, a book I now want to read.

5. The Ax for the Frozen Sea. I have to admit, with a lot of participants for the Weekly Geeks this was my first pick because of the blog title. I'm quirky that way. Then I fell in love with the photo of the boat. And I think I have to go through the meme she did she referred to as Pretentiousness Gauge.

So there. Five new blogs to read (well, four considering that I've lurked around Andi's blog early this year). But it won't end there because of the following bloggers who made my day, or more like week:

Stuff as Dreams are Made On. Aww, Chris you know I've always lurked at your blog for quite sometime now.

Random Field Notes. An Egyptologist visited my blog! She posts about marshmallows and books, masked balls and books, and finishing Les Miserable which is something I've yet to do.

Caribousmom. Lots of books, dog photos, and probably a handful of recipes I could try as well. Thank you for the kind words.

Where Troubles Melt Like Lemon Drops. She's reading (or more like un-reading) Clan of the Cave Bear. I understand that a lot and I worry I might fall in the same trap; the book being too epic for me.

The Inside Cover. Where I learned that Roald Dahl's granddaughther is also a writer. And there is so much more to learn.

Cynical Optimism. For making me want to read the Narnia Chronicles. Except that I remember that all of my books in that series were eaten by termites a couple of years back. Boo hoo hoo!

So Many Precious Books, So Little Time. For making me realize that I can write about a seemingly not quite popular book and have someone be affected by it. Thank you. And I'm looking forward to her reading Hosseini's The Kite Runner because it's a very beautiful book.

Beastmomma. I love the way she writes. Quirky, observant and fun. Can't wait to read through her archives and see what else she thought about previously. Hahaha!

So Many Book Reviews. Something she doesn't know: we're both recent Law grads, well I'm probably not as recent a Law grad as she is. But maybe that's why we both have excellent taste in books. Hahaha!

Bookworm. She visited my blog after I posted this. I hopped on over to her blog and was reeled into the discussion about enjoying a novel despite its unappealing characters and/or subject matter. I'll definitely come back for more (and yeah, her archives deserve reading as well).

Whew, I think that's about it. And I probably used up my quota of internet for the rest of the week writing that in. Hahaha! Thank you again to the wonderful souls who included me in their Weekly Geeks post. If I somehow failed to put you here, my apologies and know that I'll rectify that as soon as I discover it. Thank you as well to the wonderful souls who visited this blog through the Weekly Geeks.

I'll be dropping by the other sites soon and hopefully leaving a comment or two. For now I have to eat because I think I can smell my meal burning in the oven. Hahaha!

Hi Janiejane! *Insert laughter here*

Hello Ashleigh! Thanks. And you're very much welcome!

Hi Andi! You're welcome. And at least you have a blogroll while I don't :) Maybe I should put up one :)

Thank you for the kind words. I am actually in law school as well. I keep hoping that practice will be better than school because I am struggling so much.

Hi Beastmomma! I should've known! Some of your older posts were on law and I confused it with Janiejane! Gee, my mind's pretty off the track these days. Law school is a struggle indeed but very interesting (although I still have to pass the bar so I can't assuage you with words that practice is indeed better)! Hahaha! Goodluck! And write more!

Hi Nymeth! Yeah, this is such fun! Wheee :)

You're very much welcome Wendy! Hoping to read more of your posts as well!
